Senator Richard Browning is chairman of Education Sub-Committee A. This committee is hearing Senate Bill 372, “The Evaluation Bill” which provides for annual evaluations of teachers and principals. This bill is basically a directive to the State Board of Education to develop an annual evaluation system of teachers and principals, providing parameters to follow. The new evaluations model is being piloted in some schools this year with next year being another year of piloting in a much broader sample of schools and counties. All of those involved with the piloting program are encouraged to document problems, etc. and feel free to express their concerns and problems with the pilot.
